I’m not the most patient person in the world. In fact, I may be the most impatient person in the world. If you don’t believe me, ask my family. I’m always in a hurry, not because I am running late, but because I can’t wait to get “there”. The expectation of what it will be like when I arrive is just overwhelming. I can’t wait! Maybe God included the Book of Zephaniah in the Bible for people like me. The Prophet speaks of people’s wickedness and God’s judgment and His deliverance. As you read the book you begin to wonder what God is waiting for. You pause to consider all the evil in our current condition and can’t help but think, “God, it can’t get much worse. What are You waiting for?” Or maybe you are praying for God to deliver you or a loved one from a particularly stressful time in some aspect of your life. And you are tired of waiting. Then hear these words from verses 8,9 as I do this day, “Therefore wait for Me, says the Lord…..for then I will restore.” Maybe God is reminding us that faith includes an aspect of “waiting”, of being patient. Perhaps He is telling us to trust Him and His timing – to be patient. It is not going to be easy; especially, for us impatient people, but today I am going to strive to wait patiently for Him. Will you? Blessings
