I am not a fan of the lottery. In fact, if I weren’t a Christian I might even say that I hate the lottery, but since I am a follower of Jesus let me just say that I despise the lottery. The lottery is based on a lie of politicians and the government in an effort to get control of more of our money. They sell/promote the lottery by saying that it is our “hope” of better education, roads, life, government, etc., etc. I say that it is a “pox” on society and just another example of us putting our “hope” in something besides God. Someone asked me, as a Preacher, if I would accept lottery money as an offering to the church. I told them that I would because the devil had the money long enough, but I also said that I would rather that they give the money that they were going to spend buying the tickets to the Lord. I said this because I trust God to use and multiply the money for His Kingdom business more than I trust the world or the government. In other words I am more comfortable with my hope in God than I am in others. In Psalm 20:7 King David said, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” If the greatest King of Israel was willing to put his trust in God, then surely we should at least try it! Friends join me in putting our hope, our trust in God today. Blessings
