On one of the bridge jobs I was working on, I decided that it was time to break tradition. I was young and inexperienced and too naive to realize that we should do things the way that they had always been done if we wanted to be safe and secure in the anticipated results. I decided to try a new technique. I thought it out, talked it over with others, and was warned that it was too risky. I should just stay with the “sure thing” and be satisfied. But I didn’t. The day we tried it, I was very nervous. An old foreman came over to me and without any fanfare he simply said, “Doug, what is the worse that could happen? They can’t eat you.” I have never forgotten his remarks. He was telling me his rendition of Psalm 56:11 that says “in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?” As I ponder the choices that I will make today I will strive to remember my friend’s advice and seek to make Kingdom choices that will change people’s lives, instead of safe choices that will simply make them comfortable. After all they won’t eat me. Blessings
