Have you ever noticed that the easiest people to take advantage of are the very people we love. It seems kind of presumptuous of us when we say “I Love you” to that person and then we treat them with disdain, sometimes even with malice. Maybe we even take them for granted, just assuming that they will be there no matter how we treat them. Don’t tell my wife that I admitted it, but sometimes I take her for granted. I’ll say, “I love you Honey” and then go out and make her mad by forgetting what she wanted me to do or just completely ignoring her. It is easier to say “I’m sorry” than to actually do what she has asked me to do. So, I forget about her, do my thing – my plan, and then go home and tell her how much I love her. I think that’s called “taking the easy way out.” Have you ever done that with God? Have you ever said “I love You, God” and then gone out and done YOUR thing, taken the easy way out? I know I have. Apparently we are not the only ones. Jude 3 cautions us to “contend earnestly for the faith” especially when we begin to take God for granted by saying we love Him with our words but our actions disobey Him. Disobedience brings “wedges” into relationships and I don’t want any “wedges”, especially between God and me. I’m going to make a concerted effort today to honor God by being more obedient. I’m going to try harder today to align my words with my actions. Maybe you can too? Blessings
